Orange Marmalade

Preserving the vibrant and zesty flavors of oranges and lemons is delightful when done at home with this simple recipe for orange marmalade. Ideal as an ingredient in a variety of recipes or for spreading on toast.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 cups of granulated sugar

Instructions:

Thoroughly wash the lemon and oranges

Cut the oranges and lemon into thin rounds, making sure to take out any seeds

Put the water, lemon, and sliced oranges in a big pot

After bringing the mixture to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer and cook it for approximately forty-five minutes, or until the fruit is tender and half of the liquid has been reduced

When the granulated sugar is added to the pot, stir it until it dissolves completely

Simmer the mixture for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, or until it thickens and reaches the right consistency

Make sure to stir from time to time to avoid burning or sticking

Test with a small amount on a cold plate to see if the marmalade is ready

When you push it with your finger and it wrinkles and sets, it's done

When the marmalade is cooked, take it off the heat and allow it to cool a little

Ladle the hot marmalade into the sterilized jars with care, allowing room for expansion at the top

Place the jars in a cool, dark place after sealing them tightly and letting them cool completely

You can now savor your homemade orange marmalade!
