Chicken Teriyaki Chow Mein



A tasty and filling stir-fry dish with colorful bell peppers, chow mein noodles, and tender chicken slices all tossed in a delicious teriyaki sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz 225g chow mein noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 lb 450g boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup 120ml teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

Following the directions on the package, prepare the chow mein noodles, then drain and set them aside

Heat the vegetable oil in a big skillet or wok over high heat

After adding the chicken slices to the hot skillet, season them with salt and pepper

Stir-fry the chicken until it's cooked through and has taken on some color

After taking the chicken out of the skillet, set it aside

Add a little more oil to the same skillet and stir-fry the onion, minced garlic, and red and yellow bell peppers until they begin to soften

After the chicken has finished cooking, add the cooked chow mein noodles back to the skillet

Combine the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, teriyaki sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl

Cover the chicken and noodles in the skillet with this sauce mixture

For a few more minutes, stir-fry everything until everything is well combined and heated through

Add sesame seeds and sliced green onions as garnish
